Dr. Roy Salomon is an Assistant Professor at the Gonda Brain Research Center at Bar Ilan University. Dr. Salomon completed his PhD. at Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Institute and continued to a post-doctoral fellowship at EPFL with Prof. Olaf Blanke to study Bodily Self Consciousness. In 2016 he founded the Lab of Self & Consciousness at the Gonda Brain Research Center. His work centers on the cognitive and neurobiological basis of the “Sense of Self” and “Sense of Reality”. The lab uses behavioral, virtual reality, computational and neuroimaging techniques to study how the brain forms models of the Self and the World and how they are modified in clinical conditions. To examine altered states of consciousness, Dr. Salomon studies the impact of psychoactive substances on how we construe and construct the world and how these relate to conditions such as depression, depersonalization and psychosis.
